First 24 Hours Support
This guide was created by IRC and shares what to expect and the steps to take during the first 24 hours after a loved one is detained, based on the experiences of families in the DMV area. It is intended as a general resource and is not legal advice.
Loved One Locator
The “Loved One Locator” is the official DHS Online Detainee Locator System. This site can be used to locate a loved one who has been detained by ICE. Please note it can take up to 48 hours for someone to register in this system and you cannot search for minors (children under 18 years old).

The Standby Guardianship Project helps immigrant parents create family safety plans to protect their children and families. This site, and their members, help immigrant parents complete the Standby Guardianship Form and other family safety-planning documents to protect their children and families.
